Special Education Support Professional — Job Description (Simple Version)

Overview
The Stepping Stones Group is seeking compassionate and reliable Special Education Support Professionals to work in school-based settings. In this role, you will provide direct support to students across various grade levels, including those with autism, behavioral needs, and developmental challenges. Your work will help create a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment for both students and teachers.

Responsibilities
• Support students in 1:1, small group, or general classroom settings
• Assist students with mild to aggressive behaviors using approved strategies
• Help implement behavior plans (BIPs), IEPs, and other educational supports
• Provide assistance with toileting, diapering, hygiene, or mobility needs as required
• Support students who elope, require physical redirection, or need close supervision
• Follow teacher and district guidelines, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
• Track student behavior or progress data when requested by staff
• Maintain professional boundaries when interacting with parents and school personnel
• Assist with classroom transitions, daily routines, and instructional activities

Requirements
• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children in school, daycare, ABA, or behavioral settings preferred
• Comfort supporting students with behavioral challenges, including aggression
• Willingness to assist with toileting/diapering if needed
• Ability to bend, kneel, walk, or run as required for student safety
• Reliable transportation and ability to commute to district sites
• Flexibility to adapt to changing classroom assignments or student needs
• Consistent attendance and punctuality
• Ability to start immediately or within a 2-week notice

Schedule & Pay
• Typical school hours between 7:30 AM–4:30 PM
• 35 hours per week (7 paid hours + 30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Pay range: $20–$21/hour, depending on experience
