**Compensation:** Base salary $36,000/year + commission opportunity up to an additional $36,000/year  **Type:** Full-time, field sales About the role We are looking for a driven, cultivation-savvy Sales Representative to grow wholesale accounts for a leading provider of plant genetics, clones, and young plants across Southern California. This is a field sales role that blends technical cultivation knowledge with consultative selling. You will be the face of the company in your territory — building relationships with growers, dispensaries, nurseries, and production facilities and closing orders for clones, teen plants (young vegetative plants), and related cultivation services. This is a quota-driven position with a reliable base salary and significant weekly commission upside for hitting and exceeding sales targets. Key responsibilities - Prospect, qualify, and develop a pipeline of commercial cannabis customers across Southern California (growers, nurseries, production facilities, dispensaries that source plants, and other B2B partners). - Sell plant clones and teen plants (young vegetative transplants), including explaining genetics, lineage, and best-practice propagation and cultivation uses. - Present genetics and product portfolios in person and virtually — conduct site visits, product demos, and sample drop-offs. - Manage the full sales cycle: outreach, discovery, quoting, order entry, fulfillment coordination, invoicing follow-up, and post-sale support. - Maintain and grow relationships with existing accounts; act as primary account owner for assigned customers. - Meet weekly and monthly sales targets — commission is tied to weekly sales performance. - Provide cultivation and strain education to customers: ideal environments, nutrient timing, pest management considerations, and expected yields/traits. - Coordinate with production/nursery teams to forecast supply, confirm availability, and ensure accurate order timing. - Track all activity in CRM (leads, opportunities, quotes, closed deals, customer communications) and submit weekly sales reports. - Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, grower meetups, and association meetings as needed. - Ensure compliance with all state and client requirements when transporting and delivering plant material (chain of custody, manifests, labeling where applicable). Required qualifications - Minimum **3 years** of professional experience in the cannabis industry, with a strong focus on **cultivation** and **strain/genetics knowledge**. - Demonstrated sales experience (B2B preferred) with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets. - A portfolio of potential clients and proven ability to open new accounts in the Southern California market. (Applicants without an active prospect list should explain relevant relationships and pipeline.) - Strong technical understanding of propagation, cloning, mother management, and early-vegetative plant care. Able to speak confidently about genetics, phenotype stability, and cultivar selection. - Comfortable selling clones and teen plants and able to explain best practices for transplanting, acclimation, and early nutrient regimes. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — confident presenting to grow teams and facility managers. - Self-starter with the ability to work independently in the field, manage time, and prioritize a dynamic pipeline. - Proficient with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Pikl, or similar) and basic tools for quoting and order entry. - Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for territory travel. Willingness to travel across SoCal and occasionally to other states if needed. - Must be eligible to work in the United States and comply with all state cannabis regulatory requirements for handling plant material. Preferred qualifications - Prior experience selling plant material (clones, tissue culture, vegetative starts) or nursery products. - Existing, active relationships with commercial cultivators, nurseries, or wholesale buyers in Southern California. - Knowledge of California cannabis compliance, manifests, and transport requirements. - Familiarity with propagation protocols, tissue culture basics, and mother stock management. Skills & attributes - Deep passion for cannabis and plant cultivation. - Consultative sales approach — listening first, advising second. - Strong organizational skills: accurate forecasting, clean CRM entries, timely follow-up. - Problem solver — able to troubleshoot propagation/establishment issues with clients and coordinate internal resources to resolve them. - Professional, dependable, and customer-centric — builds trust quickly. Performance & commission structure (example) - Base pay: $36,000/year. - Weekly commission: paid on weekly sales revenue - Target additional commission opportunity: up to $36,000/year (depends on hitting weekly sales quotas). What we offer - Competitive base + high commission potential. - Opportunity to work closely with growers and shape genetics adoption in SoCal. - Exposure to a fast-growing product line and supportive operations team. - Professional development and potential to expand into higher-level account management or regional leadership roles.
