π Schedule: Full-Time, rotating shifts, weekends & holidays as required
π° Pay Rate: $95,000 β $115,000 annually (based on experience)
π Employment Type: Permanent
Overview
Talen Energy is seeking two skilled Plant Technicians β Instrument and Electrical to join our team at the Brandon Shores Power Plant in Baltimore, MD. This fully scrubbed coal-fired generating station requires professionals with a strong background in instrumentation and electrical systems. The role supports reliable power generation by performing maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair on critical plant systems.
Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical equipment using various test tools and instruments.
Perform critical instrument calibrations for plant systems.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Continuous Emissions Monitors (CEMs).
Conduct switching of circuit breakers and transformers.
Follow all company lockout/tagout and safety procedures.
Work with AC & DC electrical systems (24/48Vdc, 120Vac, 125V, 250V, 480V).
Operate and test DCS (Ovation), PLCs (Allen Bradley), and process control equipment.
Participate in rotating shift work, including weekends and holidays.
Requirements
Completion of post-high school coursework in AC & DC electrical theory or 5+ years of relevant experience in testing and evaluation of power plant or substation equipment.
Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, P&IDs, and one-line diagrams.
Skilled in using multimeters, process calibrators, and pneumatic tools.
Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and process control systems.
Ability to input maintenance data into a work management system (Maximo).
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills under time constraints.
Must hold a valid driverβs license and meet company driving standards.
Physically able to lift 45β75 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and wear required PPE.
Work Environment
Indoor/outdoor power plant setting with potential exposure to high voltage, moving machinery, heat, cold, dust, fumes, and confined spaces.
Must be able to work in noisy environments and wear protective equipment, including respirators.
Occasional travel to other Talen Energy facilities may be required.
