MD - Lab Technician

**The Role** The Lab Technician performs a variety of laboratory tasks with a focus on extraction operations. As a Lab Technician, you are responsible for supporting the extraction process and the manufacturing of cannabis infused products. Cannabis is a heavily regulated industry; therefore requires all employees to comply with safety and compliance regulations. The ideal candidate has experience working in **production, post-harvest cannabis processing, agriculture, or manufacturing environments**. They are comfortable with **physically demanding work**, including standing for extended periods and handling biomass in **temperature-controlled settings** ranging from **\-10°F to 70°F**. A strong attention to detail, adherence to **safety and cleanliness standards**, and the ability to work efficiently in both **individual and team-based settings** are essential. Candidates with prior experience in **food processing, warehouse operations, or cold storage** environments are highly preferred. **Essential functions:** - Execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes in the extraction and refinement of cannabis to produce cannabis oil and concentrate products. - Prepare equipment and raw plant material for extraction. - Execute extractions and post-extraction processes. - Operate and maintain extraction equipment, such as rotary evaporators, CO2 extractors, hydrocarbon extractors, filtration equipment, etc. - Adhere to company policies and SOPs. - Ensure all products are of high quality and visually aesthetic, reporting concerns to management for remediation. - Perform seed-to-sale operations to track cannabis inventory throughout manufacturing processes. - Other duties as assigned. **Safety & Compliance:** - Be aware of hazards in the workspace. - Retain and understand department-specific training. - Report safety incidents/concerns and comply with follow-up actions. - Be compliant with area safety requirements, state regulations, and PPE requirements. - Follow GMP, biosecurity, sanitation, or other quality and compliance requirements. - Perform record keeping accurately and completely as directed by a lead or supervisor. - Maintain and calibrate tools, equipment, and machinery as directed by a lead or supervisor. - Report and escalate safety and quality concerns. **Working Conditions** - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. - Must be able to repetitively climb ladders and/or stairs and work from elevated platforms. - Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus. - Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds (and up to 100 pounds with assistance) AND must be able to do so with extreme care and caution when working with product. - Must be able to work in an environment that is 85+ degrees and 70% humidity for extended periods. - Must be able to work at heights. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment. - Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil). **Qualifications** - Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree or certifications preferred. - Prior cannabis experience not required - Prior experience in manufacturing or a fast-paced environment - Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals. - Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment, and software, including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, and email. **Additional Requirements** - Must be at a minimum of 21 years of age. - Must possess a valid state ID. - Must be able to obtain and maintain state badging requirements to work in the cannabis industry (requires background check and state review). _About Vangst:_   _Vangst is the cannabis industry's hiring platform.
