Hourly Pay Range: $30– $35
Experienced power generation professional with factory-level training and proven track record servicing commercial standby power systems. If you've worked at a Cummins distributor, Generac dealer, or similar facility servicing critical power applications, this role offers career advancement and technical challenges. This is a technical leadership role requiring advanced diagnostic skills, complex system troubleshooting, and the ability to mentor junior technicians. This position is ideal for experienced professionals with extensive generator/power systems background who want to lead technical operations in a growing company.
Lead complex repairs and services on commercial generators (100kW - 2000kW+)
Perform advanced diagnostics using manufacturer-specific software and equipment
Conduct load bank testing and power quality analysis
Program and configure control systems and transfer switches
Mentor and train junior technicians on advanced procedures
Manage customer relationships for complex technical projects
Complete detailed service reports with technical recommendations
Ensure compliance with NFPA 110, NEC, and local codes
Experience Requirements
Must live within 50 miles of El Paso, TX.
5+ years of generator repair experience.
Advanced electrical troubleshooting using multimeters, ammeters, and diagnostic software
Engine expertise: Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, John Deere, or Generac commercial units (100kW+ to 2000kW+)
Control system experience: Deep Sea, Power Command, Decision-Maker, Evolution, or equivalent
Technical Certifications (PREFERRED)
Cummins Level 2 or Level 3 Certification
Generac Commercial Certification
Kohler/Caterpillar Commercial Certification
ASE Diesel Engine Certification
NFPA 110 Emergency Power Systems knowledge
Technical Skills (REQUIRED)
Advanced electrical systems (480V 3-phase, complex control circuits)
Engine diagnostics using manufacturers or programming software
Knowledge of or experience on paralleling switchgear and synchronization systems
Natural gas, propane, and diesel fuel systems
Advanced troubleshooting of governors, voltage regulators, ECMs, battery charging circuits, motherboards, and protection systems
Load bank testing experience with resistive and reactive loads
Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) installation, inspection, programming, and repair
