Location: 3030 Birchmount Road, Toronto, ON
Pay Rate: $18.73/hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shifts
Overtime: Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Overview

Scarborough Birchmount Hospital is one of the region’s leading healthcare facilities, providing essential medical care and patient services to the community. As a member of the hospital’s security team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and supportive environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols across hospital property, including entrances, hallways, and parking areas
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems; promptly report unsafe or suspicious activity
• Control access to restricted hospital zones and verify authorization for staff and visitors
• Respond to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, and security threats
• De-escalate tense or emotional situations with professionalism and empathy
• Support hospital staff during evacuations, critical incidents, and patient transport
• Complete accurate daily logs and detailed incident reports
• Collaborate with emergency responders, law enforcement, and hospital personnel
• Follow all Paladin Security and hospital safety procedures and protocols
• Maintain a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment for everyone in the facility

Requirements

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB-approved provider
• Covid Vaccine (two doses)
• Proof of up-to-date immunization records (MMR, Varicella, and 2-step TB test)
• Must be willing to complete N95 mask fit testing during training
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check
• English fluency (oral and written)
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field
• Ability to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB) (If not yet certified, candidates may complete Paladin’s UoF/MOAB training before onboarding)
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
