Description

As a Firmware Engineer at Rivian, you will play a key role in the development of cutting-edge firmware for our electric adventure vehicles. Your day-to-day activities will involve designing, coding, and testing embedded software to ensure the highest quality and performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software, debug issues in real-time environments, and contribute to the growth of a talented team of engineers.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in firmware development, ideally with vertically integrated consumer products.
• Expertise in C programming, along with familiarity in C++, Python, and bash scripting.
• Proficiency with real-time operating system platforms, preferably in safety-critical applications.
• In-depth knowledge of embedded microprocessor tools, hardware peripherals, and common communication buses.
• Experience in selecting hardware/software architecture with a focus on cost and performance trade-offs (e.g., OS, MCU).
• Hands-on experience debugging in real-world environments using embedded diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG.
• Proven ability in building and developing fast-paced, highly experienced software teams across multiple embedded disciplines.
• Strong collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Knowledge of automotive standards and safety regulations.
• Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence in embedded systems.
