Facilities Technician / Maintenance Technician – GMP Environment

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our regulated GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) pharmaceutical/biotech facility in Plantation, Florida. This hands-on, highly technical role is critical to supporting facility operations, ensuring equipment reliability, and safeguarding product quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily facility walk-throughs to verify operational condition of critical areas and equipment.

• Execute preventive maintenance (PM) on facilities, equipment, HVAC, and utility systems per monthly schedule.

• Troubleshoot and conduct unplanned maintenance for mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and utility systems.

• Manage external contractors for maintenance and repairs when required.

• Prepare spare parts, consumables, and materials for PM and shutdown activities.

• Complete and upload documentation into the Quality Management System (QMS) and CMMS in a timely manner.

• Participate in equipment/utility/HVAC investigations and corrective actions.

• Maintain compliance with training requirements within the QMS.

• Support facility construction activities and serve on the emergency response team (e.g., equipment malfunctions, alarms, hurricane readiness).

• Ensure mechanical spaces and cleanroom environments are dust-free, organized, and GMP-compliant.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associate Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a GMP pharmaceutical/biotech environment.

• Direct experience working in a clean-room environment.

• Strong hands-on mechanical skills, excellent troubleshooting ability, and robust documentation practices.

• Proficiency with QMS, CMMS and computer-based systems.

• Experience with control systems (BAS/BMS, PLC, HMI).

• Technical certifications preferred: EPA 608, HVAC, CEST, CMRT, NCCER (or equivalent).

• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
