Job Description
As a Readmissions Counselor, you'll play a vital role in helping students return to WGU and continue their journey toward a degree and career success. You’ll guide students through the readmission process, provide clarity and encouragement, and collaborate across departments to ensure a seamless experience. Every day, you’ll make a meaningful impact by empowering individuals to achieve their educational goals.
What You'll Do
• Serve as the primary contact for students seeking readmission, balancing inbound and outbound communication via phone, email, and chat
• Proactively follow up with students to ensure all requirements are met for re-enrollment and orientation
• Process and maintain accurate student applications and files, ensuring compliance with WGU and U.S. Department of Education standards
• Provide clear information about programs, policies, and expectations to help students make informed decisions
• Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Services, Faculty, and Transcript Evaluation teams to streamline the readmission process
• Track and report student progress using multiple systems and maintain a strong focus on quality and accuracy
• Contribute to team success by sharing feedback, supporting colleagues, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives
What You'll Bring
Minimum Requirements
• 1–2 years of experience in admissions, enrollment, customer service, or a related field
• Strong oral and written communication skills with a professional phone presence
• Ability to work independently, prioritize outreach efforts, and manage a high-volume pipeline
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort navigating multiple software systems simultaneously
• Experience working with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)
• A collaborative, student-focused mindset with adaptability to change and commitment to integrity
Bonus Points if You Have
Preferred Requirements
• Previous experience in higher education or student advising
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with WGU programs and competency-based education
• Advanced troubleshooting skills in remote work environments
