Description

As a Driver at Batesville, you will play a vital role in supporting our mission to provide meaningful services to families during their time of need. Your key responsibilities include transporting caskets and equipment safely and efficiently, while ensuring excellent customer relationships. A typical day involves loading and unloading caskets, driving to various locations, and sometimes working flexible hours to meet our customers' demands. Your reliability and commitment will make a significant impact in our community.

Requirements

• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including any days, shifts, and weekends to meet customer demand
• Strong ability to build and maintain effective customer relationships
• Successful completion of a vehicle road test
• Current DOT physical certification, with documentation maintained on file with the issuing state motor vehicle department
• Capability to lift 150 pounds from floor to waist and 20 pounds above shoulder height
• Ability to push caskets weighing up to 300 lbs. on a shelf (approximately 90 lbs of force required) onto and off of a lift gate
• Ability to lift one end of a 300 lb. casket onto or off a platform or church truck at the funeral home
• Ability to lower a casket from a standing (upright) position onto a roll loader bed, which may weigh up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to lift miscellaneous equipment and products weighing up to 60 lbs

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in a similar driving or logistics role
• Familiarity with the funeral industry and good customer service skills
