Landscape Development is Hiring a Construction Laborer!
Location: Santa Clarita, CA
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (some weekends/holidays as required)
Pay Rate: $20-$25/hour (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Construction Foreman
Overview
We’re looking for hardworking, safety-minded individuals to join our field construction team as Construction Laborers (I & II). This role involves performing a variety of physical labor tasks related to landscape and irrigation construction. Laborer II positions require greater independence and minimal supervision.
You’ll work outdoors year-round, supporting the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, plants, and grading projects, while maintaining a commitment to safety and teamwork.
Responsibilities
Clear and backfill ditches, trenches, and holes for irrigation, drainage, and planting.
Perform handwork such as digging, grading, and raking using shovels, picks, and other hand tools.
Operate powered equipment (e.g., auger, jackhammer, stake pounder).
Connect irrigation and drainage pipes using glue and install sod, sprinkler heads, catch basins, and tree stakes.
Apply fertilizer and planting tablets as needed.
Water plants, clean drains and tree wells, and maintain general site cleanliness.
Carry materials such as sod, rocks, and plants to designated areas.
Maintain and safely operate tools and equipment.
Follow daily production schedules and complete assigned tasks on time.
Provide courteous, efficient, and accurate service to clients and team members.
Attend safety meetings and adhere to all company safety policies.
Report damaged or unsafe equipment to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements
1–2 years of construction or related experience (landscape industry preferred).
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often in hot or humid environments.
Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the day.
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule (weekends, holidays, evenings).
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Basic plant identification knowledge is a plus.
Must be able to follow instructions accurately and complete work with attention to detail.
Work Environment
Outdoor environment, exposed to direct sunlight and varying weather conditions.
Work near vehicular traffic or natural bodies of water.
Standard schedule: 8+ hours/day, 5 days/week (some overtime required).
