At West Fraser, our Lubrication Technician is mainly responsible for equipment lubrication, contamination control, inspection, and proactive maintenance activities for all lubricated mechanical systems.  The scope of this position is to increase the productivity and efficiency of the process and machinery by identifying and reducing reliability issues and improving PMs and life plans through proper lubrication, contamination control, and inspections.

 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use of tools and equipment for both manual and automatic lubrication functions.
  • Mechanical modification of systems as directed to facilitate sampling, filtration, and other proactive improvements.
  • Review and maintenance of reservoirs and attached systems to include filling, draining, cleaning, filter maintenance and replacement, breather maintenance and replacement, and other required maintenance.
  • Operating filtration equipment.
  • General maintenance of dispensing equipment and automatic systems.
  • Labeling and tagging of reservoirs, equipment, inventory, and delivery containers.
  • Printing and fulfilling planned lubrication PM routes.
  • Update scheduling systems, including adding notes and requesting work orders for maintenance repairs and activities.
  • Schedule, collect, label, and mail samples for analysis.
  • Report any discrepancies or conditions that require corrective, predictive, or planned maintenance for production systems.
  • Tracking stock of inventory and requesting products as necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eligible to legally work in the United States.
  • High School diploma or equivalent education.
  • Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment using proven processes, SOPs, LOTOV program, or utilizing pre-job assessments in a group setting.
  • Positively influence safety by identifying hazards, observing work conditions, and addressing concerns through conversation and recommendations.
  • Possess professional-level oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or alone with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain equipment in an assigned area and improve current processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work at heights up to 130 feet above ground and have experience operating powered lifting equipment.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, CMMS.
  • Knowledge of the Engineered Wood Products Industry, specific Mill processes, and equipment.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting technical documents, such as OEM Maintenance plans, Blueprints, BOMs, and Advanced Lubrication Technology instructions and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages)
  • Understanding of fundamental lubrication concepts and application of these concepts (such as Viscosity, NLGI #’s, V.I., AW, EP, R&O, ISO Cleanliness Codes, Beta Filter Rating, etc.).
  • Possess an understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and circulating system operation, contamination control, and maintenance functions.
  • Possess an MLT1 certification and/or be able to pass the MLT1 (re) certification course within 1 year of employment.
  • Be reliable by possessing consistent and predictable attendance behavior.
