The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization has an exciting opportunity for an Equipment and Tool Designer - General Machinist to join our Additive Manufacturing and Prototyping Lab team in
Tukwila, WA. The selected candidate will take part as a general machinist using CNC mills and lathes in a job shop to design and fabricate prototype and test parts, utilizing multiple technologies across traditional machining and additive methods. This position will investigate and develop basic to moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements. The selected candidate will participate in design reviews, collect design requirements, create and revise drawings and models to support the build plan.
BT&E is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Associate and Mid-Level Equipment and Tool Designers.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Self-check design for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions
- Program, set-up and operate 3-axis CNC mill, wire EDM, CNC lathe, manual mill and lathe and various hand tools with limited supervision
- Possess knowledge of Mastercam 2019/2021, as well as with CATIA
- Able to machine prototype parts while maintaining a deadline per customer request
- Able to assess tooling and fixturing needed for jobs
- Able to ask questions as needed and to work collaboratively
- Knowledge of blueprints, drawing tolerances, and 3D CAD models
- Use of precision measuring tools
- Knowledge of assembly (fasteners used, etc.)
- Able to use Microsoft Windows and personal computing devices as pertaining to job
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Associate's degree or related certification and 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- 1+ years of experience setting-up and operating CNC Mills and Lathes
- 1+ years of CAD/CAM programming experience (using an offline programming system such as UniGraphics, CATIA, MasterCam etc.)
- 1+ years of experience in developing conceptual designs for tooling fixtures
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
- Ability to program, set-up and operate 5-Axis CNC mill
- 3+ years programming in MasterCam

Summary pay range for associate level: $56,950 - $77,050
Summary pay range for mid-level: $68,000 - $92,000
