JOB SUMMARY -Candidate must a proven leader/trainer with 3yrs-5yrs experience setting up STAR Swiss turning machines
-Experience with any of the following STAR models; ECAS 32, ECAS 20, SR 20 RII-RIV and SV 20
-Experience with Tsugami a plus
This position is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of all machines and for maintaining a clean well organized work area. As CNC Machinist Lead (also referred to as Shift Lead), the incumbent will act as liaison between shift employees and supervisors/managers, communicating problems and questions as they may arise on his/her shift. The lead will also act as liaison between process planning, engineering, production, the metallurgical lab and inspection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Sets up and operates CNC / Manual type machines in a safe and productive manner.
- Assures that parts produced meet or exceed quality standards.
- Checks all dimensions and material types to assure finished parts conform to work order specifications.
- Meets productivity standards as set by the supervisor and methods engineering. Works closely with programmers to improve cycle times and optimize programs.
- Utilizes SAP and MII software to monitor proper workflow of production orders in department.
- Advises/recommends adjustment of workforce to appropriate machinery. Facilitates logical work assignments of operators / set up personnel to available machinery. (Determines if personnel can operate multiple machines based on job cycle times.)
- Makes good use of all consumable tools. Assures that supervisor is made aware of tooling that must be replaced and equipment that is in need of repair.
- Acts as liaison between shift employees and appropriate supervisor or manager, communicating problems and questions as they may arise.
- Shift Lead will be held responsible for productivity and performance standards of assigned group(s).
- Shift Lead will be responsible for proper tooling/gauging needed for scheduled jobs within their groups. Close interaction with programmers and production planning department will be required.
- Monthly meetings will be held with production manager to review productivity standards and related issues in departments.
- Assures that safety precautions are observed at all times including the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection (if applicable) and machine guards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
Three to five years of experience as a CNC / Manual set-up and operate machinist.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with multiple levels in the organization. Able to prioritize multiple tasks.

HYSICAL DEMANDS Manufacturing environment. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment; have the ability to position self to move, install/takeout, adjust, position, measure, and handle materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
