GRID Alternatives (Installation Basics Training Program) At A Glance

Who We Are

GRID Alternatives envisions a rapid, equitable transition to a world powered by renewable energy that benefits everyone. Our mission is to build community-powered solutions to advance economic and environmental justice through renewable energy.

What We Do

GRID Alternatives partners with utilities, municipal agencies, and affordable housing providers to develop a variety of solar projects across Colorado. The Installation Basics Training (IBT) 200 program is specifically for residents of the Denver Metro area.

How the Program Works

GRID offers a hands-on training program that provides a pipeline to employment in the construction fields. This is a 5-week paid training course.

Participants learn from interactive classroom instruction, hands-on lab activities, and real-world solar installation projects. No prior experience necessary!

Our curriculum is vetted by industry employers and incorporates the latest solar technologies, so you can be confident you're getting relevant, comprehensive training. You'll graduate with advanced solar knowledge, hands-on installation experience, and valuable employer connections that will help you launch your solar career and be ready to work on day one.

Then What?

After you complete the 5 week training program, we work with you to get you a job in the solar industry. You will be supported from recruitment to placement, providing resume-building, soft skills training, and job search assistance to help you get the job and keep the job. If you are ultimately interested in applying to an electrical apprenticeship, this is a great opportunity to get more hands-on experience! (Plus, it will look great on your application)

We Value Diversity

At GRID Alternatives, we care deeply about providing opportunity and increasing diversity & inclusion in the construction industry in general. If you apply to GRID Alternatives, you will find a workplace where all are welcomed, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or orientation.
