Introduction to Role:


Join us at AstraZeneca in Boston, where we are establishing a new development in Kendall Square, Cambridge. In this role, you will be at the forefront of leading all aspects of the Design, Engineering & Interior Construction of AZ’s new Strategic Science Center & Global Alexion HQ. This is a great opportunity to be part of a 4-year program that will co-locate R&D lab-based, and office-based teams currently located at Waltham, MA and at Seaport, Boston. Accountabilities:


As the Senior Director, Capital Project Execution, your responsibilities will include project delivery, commercial Capex management, and stakeholder management. You will oversee 3rd party advisors and consultants, manage the construction relationship with the developer & landlord Boston Properties, and ensure compliance with all relevant lease obligations. You will also monitor the development of the capital project cost model and manage the budget for AZ appointed 3rd party advisors and consultants. Furthermore, you will lead the relationship with the Landlord (BXP) and internal stakeholder groups supporting the capital project.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's in engineering, architecture or equivalent with eight plus years of relevant experience is required.
  • Design of a multi-use environment incorporating specialist heavy chemistry & biology R&D lab spaces
  • Technical engineering of a substantial tenant interior fit-out project- Construction project management for shell & core- Construction project management of commercial interiors- A deep understanding of the importance of environment impact and sustainability matters
  • Track record of representing owner requirements and translating them into a practical, achievable project plan
  • Deep experience achieving owner requirements in high rise/vertical campus context, ideally in combination with city-center location
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, with eight plus years of relevant experience.
  • Significant experience in R&D environment
  • Proven leadership promoting motivation and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred;
  • Experience in both developer and owner roles
  • Excellent knowledge of AstraZeneca policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Extensive experience of achieving world-leading sustainability (environmental, diversity and sustainability) ambitions in a construction context
  • Vivarium construction & operation
