Planner/ Rotating Equipment Specialist reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsible for providing technical guidance and practical support to the asset for the operation, integrity, maintenance activities and fault diagnosis on key Rotating Equipment. Responsible for ensuring that standards are maintained, whilst also optimizing maintenance and limiting downtime. Work Orders are raised to address defects and assist the asset in meeting its Operational Excellence targets.


During your hours as a Rotating Equipment Planner/SME, you will have…

  • Primary responsibility in preparing/developing work plan/comprehensive work packs of various equipment like engines, pumps, compressors, turbines etc. Review of overhaul reports, maintenance reports, general task list, equipment specific task lists, spare part list, equipment drawings, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, operation, and maintenance manuals of OEMs.
  • Planning of end-to-end work orders to enable efficient scheduling and ensure compliance of executable work orders.
  • Be responsible for interfacing with contracted vendors to ensure timely resolution of problems, and for assisting the vibration monitoring vendor with the collection of routine vibration data.
  • Accountable for ensuring that post maintenance commissioning activities are carried out and the equipment is handed back to operations in a satisfactory condition.
  • Manage the back log by: Reviewing SAP work order/Status, along with clarifying incomplete, duplicate or poorly defined work orders.
  • Assist with developing the weekly resource/ multiple-craft schedule of capital projects and planned maintenance based upon site priorities to optimize the use of site-wide available resources and assist in the creation and/or changes of equipment Bill of Materials and Task List.
  • Create job packages that clearly show special instructions and required documentation such as MOC information, QA/QC needs, P&ID’s, spec sheets, specialty tools, materials.
  • Validate execution of daily schedule compliance and lead daily status update meeting as required.
  • Play key role in managing annual shutdowns and/or area shutdowns as scheduled.


If you...


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum 5 years of hands on troubleshooting rotating equipment / experience in the refining or chemicals industry working as a millwright craftsman, and a minimum of 2 years in a planning job function.
  • Completion of applicable trade school program preferred.
  • Top Millwright skill
  • Knowledge of the planning and scheduling tools (e.g., SAP experience and Primavera P6 experience a plus) used at the Pasadena Site is important but can be developed through training.
  • Have expert knowledge on the specified rotating equipment and systems, be pro-active, diligent, and able to positively influence operability and reliability of equipment under their ownership.
  • Working knowledge of the Machinery Repair Standards.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI / API pumps, mechanical seals & seal flush plans, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, gearboxes, steam turbines and fans.
  • Effective communication with all colleagues across different levels of the organization is essential as well as a flexible working attitude.
