Preconstruction Estimating Director
Compensation: $92,000+ DOE
What you’ll be doing (duties of this position):
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify project requirements, potential risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Collaborate with business development, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to compile project information and specifications.
- Prepare precise and comprehensive cost estimates, accounting for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Utilize industry-standard software and tools to create detailed project budgets and timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals and participate in the subcontractor and supplier procurement process.
- Evaluate and compare vendor bids to ensure competitiveness and alignment with project requirements.
- Continuously update and maintain the cost database with current market prices and industry trends.
- Work with the design team to offer value engineering suggestions that enhance efficiency without compromising quality or functionality.
- Develop and deliver preconstruction reports to senior management, outlining key findings and recommendations.
- Monitor changes in project scope and adjust cost estimates accordingly.
- Oversee all estimating positions and delegate assignments as needed.
What you’ll need to be considered (requirements):
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in preconstruction, estimating, or similar roles within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools (e.g., Procore, Sage Timberline, Plan Swift, Autodesk Quantity Takeoff, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills and an acute attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to facilitate effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of construction regulations, codes, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with value engineering principles and techniques is advantageous.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools.
