Bishop Gadsden, located on James Island, is a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden’s Charitable Giving and Communications department is hiring for a part time, day shift for Eliza's Attic Thrift Boutique Sales Coordinator. We offer competitive pay with a friendly work environment!

About the opportunity:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Manager with overall operations and performance of Eliza’s Attic according to operational, financial, administrative, and customer goals, as well as ensuring Eliza’s Attic social media pages are continually updated.

A Typical Day:

  • General oversight of store operations in coordination with the Attic Manager.
  • Open and close the Attic for scheduled daily hours as scheduled.
  • Perform or delegate daily sales/cash register reconciliation and deposits, when scheduled.
  • Assist with store pricing, display, arrangement of items and best utilization of the available display space.
  • Continually marketing Eliza’s Attic on social media pages to continue increase in customer base.
  • Communicate with Attic Manager to schedule donation pickups.
  • Practice safe procedures while moving furniture or other items. The manager will involve EVS when appropriate.
  • Be an approved driver and use a Bishop Gadsden vehicle for transporting any items requiring a vehicle.
  • Support general sales efforts.
  • Report any concerns or business updates to Eliza’s Attic Manager and/or the Office of Charitable Giving and Communications.
  • Perform all duties with adherence to Resident’s Rights and HIPAA.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and exhibit a courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Maintain effective professional relationships with residents, staff and customers to create a culture that reflects organizational values of care, integrity and respect.

What We Need from You:

  • Computer knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and POS software. Must be willing to learn other programs as needed.
  • Ability to handle and defuse challenging situations with tact. Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic. Enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to safe working environment.
  • Minimum three years’ work experience.
  • Prior experience in retail a plus.
  • Knowledge of antiques a plus.
  • Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material.
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity, particularly in hands and arms, must have the ability to use hands to finger, handle and feel and ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
