As an Operating Engineer II it is essential you are able to provide a welcoming space at our performing arts centers. Under the supervision of the Facility Manager and Lead Operating Engineer, the Operating Engineer II operates and maintains all heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical and mechanical equipment used in the daily operations of Portland'5 Centers for the Arts (Portland'5) facilities. As an Operating Engineer II you will: Perform repair and maintenance of: Air conditioning and refrigeration systemsBoilers and heating systemsPumps, couplings and associated motorsElectrical systemsDoor pneumatic controlsHVAC DDC and computer controlsKitchen and concession equipmentWindows, doors, door closers, door locks and latchesLighting fixtures, interior and exteriorBuilding envelope (exterior doors, windows, etc.)Repair and replace plumbing fixtures; clean drainsOperate HVAC controls and control computers for daily facility needs as well as for shows and events as neededHandle on-call duty, one month at a time, rotated among staff EngineersInterface regularly with outside contractors who perform various regular maintenance and repair functionsCut keys and provides related servicesSolder and braze copperWeld various materials with various methods – i.e.: stick, wire, TIG, MIGPerform basic carpentry and make repairs to wood features and furnishingsPerform some duties associated with network infrastructure needs such as; pulling and finding data cables, building and maintaining data patch fields, helping to manage Enterprise WiFi and telephone equipment and similar itemsAssist with some event setups that require temporary power hookups, telephone and network connections, etc. Attributes for success: Experience with operation and maintenance of low-pressure and condensing boilers, centrifugal and modular scroll chillers, open and closed loop cooling towersControls: electrical, mechanical and DDCAbility to maintenance and repair of plumbing fixturesAbility to maintenance and repair of doors, door closers, windows, latches and locksetsExperience to weld metal with various types of welding setupsWork in elevated locations as well as from aerial lifts such as Genie lifts, scissor lifts and similar equipmentEstablish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with fellow employees and the publicWork independently, with other engineers, employees, and the general publicWork smoothly with outside repair and maintenance contractors in various disciplinesUnderstand of reading drawings and diagrams such as schematics, one-line diagrams, building mechanical, fire protection and floor plansReading and following written and oral instructionsWrite clear, descriptive and understandable daily shift reportsEnter data into, and follow work orders generated by, facility CMMS softwarePerform tasks that occasionally require heavy lifting, moving, etc.Diversity and inclusion: At Metro, we’re committed to hiring a workforce representative of the communities we serve, recognizing that a diverse workforce strengthens our organization. Minimum qualifications: Two years of experience as an Operating Engineer in a large public events facility, ORWe will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position Required: Required must possess an Oregon Limited Maintenance Electrician License (LME)Required possession of a valid driver's license. The candidate selected for the position will need to pass a Driving Record check prior to being hired.
