HVAC Service Technician III

Position Summary:

We are searching for a Commercial Service Technician who will perform all required repairs on Chillers, boilers, vats, pressure vessels and steam systems according to blueprint and system specifications. Open and close boilers for annual inspections. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial air-conditioning equipment and multi-zone heating and cooling systems to ensure they are working efficiently, properly, and affordably.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but not be limited to:

1. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial air-conditioning equipment.

2. Multi-zone cooling systems to ensure they are working efficiently, properly, and affordably.

3. Maintaining the temperature and humidity of commercial building focused on cooling systems.

4. Basic knowledge of mechanical working of fire tube and water tube boilers and connected associated utility piping.

5. Be able to repair or replace tube sheets. Roll or weld tube ends.

6. Make repairs to gas trains and feed water piping systems.

7. Mount or retrofit burners to boilers using wrenches, cutting torch or welder.

8. Perform annual inspections on different types of boilers.

9. Follow preventative maintenance schedules and perform routine system
maintenance and repair, including dis-assembly, cleaning, and re-assembly.

10. Install, remove, maintain, and repair various medium and large tonnage HVAC systems.

11. Perform specific preventative maintenance, including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, testing for leaks, adjusting controls, making minor repairs where needed, and cleaning of equipment.

12. Troubleshoot electrical problems, and make repairs as required.

13. Ability to interpret engineering drawings in reference to layouts, location, schematics, wiring diagrams, and system operations to determine service requirements.

14. Test system performance using special tools and test equipment.

15. Conserve, recover, and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants used in A/C and refrigeration systems in compliance with EPA regulations.

16. Test systems for gas, carbon monoxide, or fuel leaks.

17. Install and repair fuel and water supply lines.

18. Must work in a safe manner daily and ensure that all safety measures are always taken.

19. Maintain accurate records of completed work and materials used.

20. Respond directly to customer questions, explain services provided, and provide Dispatch with detailed summary of related costs for billing purposes.

21. On-call and weekend work as required.

Qualifications:

· 5+ years of on-the-job experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of commercial boilers and steam generation systems, HVAC systems, and commercial/industrial air-condition equipment.

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

· Vocational school or prior experience in HVAC, construction, or similar industry a plus

· Proficient at inspecting, troubleshooting, and making repairs on:

  • Air-cooled chillers (recip, screw, or scroll)
  • Boilers (any size)
  • RTU, package units, water-source heat pumps, and split systems (any size)
  • AHU’s
  • Cooling towers
  • Vane axial fans
  • Pumps
  • Air compressors
  • Air dryers
  • VAV boxes
  • VFD’s

· Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)

· EPA Certification Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)

· Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.

· Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • HVAC/Boiler/Chiller: 5 years (Required)
