Denver International Airport is the 20th-busiest airport in the world and the 5th-busiest airport in the United States, serving 64.5 million passengers and generating more than $26 billion for the region annually. DEN is the largest and newest commercial airport in the United States and consists of 15 million square feet of built environment.
As a HVAC Manager at Denver International Airport (DEN) you will be responsible for providing and executing a comprehensive maintenance program for DENs multi-facility HVAC/Building Automation System needs as well as operating and maintaining our 20,000 Ton/200 MBH Central Utility Plant. As such, this position requires someone who has a firm understanding of all facets of the HVAC industry and is comfortable developing and using data-driven analytics to provide DEN leaders with business-case options. DEN is currently upgrading older systems, while also continuing to stretch the life of legacy controls throughout the airport.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 430pm, in office. On-Call Snow/Emergency duties are required during winter months.
Additional responsibilities include:

Leads, coaches, mentors, and challenges staff. Actively engages staff to get support and commitment while providing motivation and encouragement to meet goals and objectives. Establishes performance expectations and standards for all levels of employees

Administers the Preventive Maintenance program to ensure consistent, high-quality work. Develops and administers maintenance contracts to augment in-house capabilities

Collaborates with Project Managers on Project-Definition, Design-Intent, Estimating, Scheduling, etc.

Leads efforts in developing performance metrics and KPI's to facilitate data-driven decisions

Ensures efficient funds management by using fiscally sound practices. Research financial impacts and consequences of proposed recommendations and provides business-case justifications to other stakeholders

Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by facilitating employee engagement and innovation through the identification and resolution of process improvement opportunities

Develops and implements standards, policies, procedures, systems and guidelines for the organization and subordinate supervisors and staff
-
Develops and manages workforce management programs that address training, position management, work classification, labor productivity and succession planning

Explains and defends the organization's decisions, actions, and recommendations to internal and external customers. Provides subject matter expertise and advice in HVAC and Central Utility Plant management

Some positions administer a snow removal program. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

We are looking for a strong leader to provide operational and technical leadership to our HVAC maintenance/BAS team. The successful candidate for this position will have expertise in Building Automation Systems and controls and demonstrated leadership experience.
In addition, we are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

3-5 years of HVAC/Central Utility Plant management experience and/or large organization management experience; In-depth knowledge of managing organizational teams and implementing industry-best practices; A proven track record building strong teams and empowering team members

Experience managing and maintaining a large-scale facility (multiple facilities, Central Utility Plant); Experience managing in a 24/7/365 operational environment is helpful

Strong leader with a strategic focus; Excellent communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills, as well as the ability to successfully coach, mentor, train, professionally develop the team, provide direction through crucial conversations, and other leadership strategies

Adaptable to constant change; Proactive; Innovative mindset and can bring new ideas to solve challenges; High level of customer service

A data/metrics-driven approach to analyze departmental trends and performance outcomes; ability to make data-driven decisions

Proven ability to partner with the business community to foster long-term, successful working relationships

The ability to effectively manage ambiguity as well as emergency situations, and to make critical decisions with confidence

Experience working with Maximo or other Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
-
Progressive technical experience in the HVAC/Central Utility Plant career field

High level understanding and experience in the operation of Building Automation Systems

Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
Snow / Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
