Primary Role

The HVAC Install Helper will assist the Lead HVAC Installer in completing jobs on time and within budget, helping to achieve the company’s financial goals. General support for the HVAC business including sheet metal fabrication, vehicle maintenance, parts deliveries and disposals and other duties assigned by supervisor.

Key Accountabilities

  • Functional Expertise:
    • Continuously provide the customer with the highest levels of customer service
    • Able to assist lead installer with installation of furnaces, condensers, humidifiers, and accessories.
    • Understands basic hand tool usage.
    • Thoroughly understands and complies with the inventory policies and procedures of NHS.
      • Must be able to assist with install of sheet metal duct systems, connect gas lines, cut, and thread pipe, install copper refrigerant line to air conditioning units, including soldering and brazing.
  • Business Acumen:
    • Use good time management to make effective use of travel.
    • Must be able to cycle count inventory upon procurement’s request.
    • Demonstrates attention to detail involving his/her payroll to minimize any reclass data entries at the end of the month.
    • Demonstrates a high level of technical competence.
    • Ability to utilize a variety of analytical techniques to solve problems
  • Driving Results:
    • Maintain expected productivity, quality and safety metrics as outlined by the NHS Field Operations Department
    • Must show a willingness to continue to learn and take additional training to develop proficiency in the field. This could include in-house training, manufacturers training (including after hours), videos and related articles.

Knowledge/Skills

  • HVAC Body of Knowledge including Service.
  • Participate in continuing education as new products, processes and equipment is released.
  • This broad knowledge provides the experience for appropriate utilization of workforce and materials ensuring achievement of profitability results and developing business through customer satisfaction and referrals.
  • Required: Basic mechanical knowledge and use of hand tools

Experience/Education

  • Required:
    • High School, GED, must continue education of HVAC through classes the company requests attendance.

Working Conditions

  • Climbing, Extreme Hot or Cold (out of doors), Heavy Lifting, Loud Noise, Use of ladders to get to equipment, crawling to look for registers, going into crawl spaces and attics to locate and access furnace.
  • Safety awareness, overhead hazards, equipment operations, wearing PPE as required.
  • Must be able to reach, bend extend and lift 100+ lbs.
  • Must not be afraid of heights.
