Foreman/Lead Carpenter

Summary:
We are looking for a Foreman/ Lead Carpenter to join our growing team who will be responsible for leading and managing PCH’s Field Crew through all phases of construction projects, ensuring that work is being done with the highest quality, accuracy and craftsmanship. Working closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager, the Lead Carpenter will help ensure that the jobsite is properly planned, staffed, and on schedule to meet deadlines. The Lead Carpenter will also actively communicate with Project Superintendent and Project Manager, keeping them informed on the progress of the project through completion.

- Read and comprehend structural, architectural and shop drawings
- Knowledge of broader trades (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.)
Responsibilities (top five functions):
- Ensure overall jobsite cleanliness and safety
- Assist project superintendent with site logistics, schedule and supervision of subcontractors
- Layout, line, level, datum, and quality control
- Mentor Carpenters, Trainee Carpenters and Laborers
- Other duties as assigned
Skills (regular tasks):
- Teach, supervise, and set tasks for Carpenters, Trainee Carpenters and Laborers
- Achieve 3-Week Look Ahead
- Conduct regular safety meetings
- Manage PCH employees and subcontractors
- Review shop drawings and work for quality and accuracy
- Complete advanced carpentry tasks
- Sign, accurately code, and submit field invoices for billing
- Conduct regular tool inspection procedures to ensure that tools are maintained in safe condition
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- BA/BS degree in Construction Management or similar field a plus
- 7+ years of carpentry experience required
- 5 + years’ experience in High-End Custom Residential construction preferred
- Proven knowledge and understanding of construction operations, processes, and documentation required
- Proven ability to manage, train and mentor Carpenters required
- Ability to interpret the design team’s intent and provide positive feedback towards solution required
- Proven ability to read and understand structural, architectural, and shop drawings for construction projects required
- Knowledge of broader trades (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.)
- Possesses a valid CA Driver’s License, good driving history, dependable transportation and can pass Background check required
- Demonstrated knowledge of local, state and federal quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites required
