Facility Operations Manager

Position(s): Facility Manager I
Reports To: General Manager, other Senior Management in their absence
Job Type: Full Time, Exempt. Must be available to work weeknights and weekends
Salary: $45-48,000 commensurate with experience, plus facility specific perks
Job Summary:
The Facility Manager I is responsible for a variety of tasks during their shifts as a member of the Operations Team. The team member will provide superior customer service to guests at all times by providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while adhering to Company Policies, Procedures, and Best Practices.
Responsibilities:
● Provide fast and courteous service to all customers
● Provide information regarding location within the facility
● Performing safe ice resurfacings based on schedule of events for the ice rink
● Program and event set up and tear down including, but not limited to: various sporting equipment, tables/chairs, staging, signage, and other items as assigned by Supervisors
● Safely maintain ice resurfacer and other related ice making equipment, will train if needed
● Perform routine monitoring of the ice making plant (compressors, chiller system, dehumidification system, condenser system, etc)
● Complete maintenance logs and designated checklists as outlined by Supervisors
● Enforce facility posted rules to ensure the safety of all guests
● Provide janitorial upkeep throughout their shift
● Assist with skate rental duties during public skating and other skating events
● Basic Landscaping related duties such as weed control, mulching, clean up
● Basic Snow and Ice Maintenance duties such as sidewalk/lot shoveling and salting
● Assist with install/removal and ice install/removal
● Perform locker room cleaning and maintenance checks
● Event general staffing, set up/tear down
● Scorekeeping league games as needed
● Communicate via radio or other device with other employees throughout the shift
● Basic construction and maintenance duties including, but not limited to: painting, drywall repair, and glass/wood board replacement and associated clean up with these duties
● Scheduling of staff according to facility needs
● Hiring and training of new employees
● Other tasks and duties as assigned by Supervisors
● Enforcement of procedures, processes, and policies to staff and guests
● Assist with planning, and adhere to a budget for the facility and its proper allocation
● Basic accounting with preparation of daily deposits and balancing of drawers
● Shift coverage as needed
● Work with third party vendors and subcontractors to perform work as needed
● First point of contact for emergency situations
Qualifications:
● High School Diploma or equivalent
● Valid Driver’s License required
● Obtain PA Act-15 related clearances within 30 days of employment and maintain those related clearances throughout employment at the facility
● Basic knowledge of construction, mechanical engineering, and/or refrigeration preferred
● CIT via US Ice Rink Association preferred, but not required
● Previous ability to operate heavy machinery including, but not limited to Ice Resurfacer (Zamboni), forklift, scissor lift, and articulating boom lift preferred but not required
● Flexibility to work late nights and weekends, as they are integral to the success of the Arena
● Ability to work in a fast paced environment and deal with multiple tasks simultaneously
● Ability to work in different climates, ranging from cold to hot, associated with an ice rink and indoor multipurpose sport arena
● Ability to safely navigate the building from one area/level to another
● Strong work ethic and positive attitude with excellent attention to detail
● Organizational and time management skills, with ability to problem solve under pressure
● Excellent customer service skills
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team, at times with minimal or no supervision
Physical Demands of the Position:
● Stand, Walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee is exposed to a variety of room and surface temperatures ranging from very cold on the ice to warm throughout the building with noise levels usually moderate to loud.
