A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONSTRUCTION CARPENTER INSTRUCTOR
As a Construction Carpenter Instructor with our nonprofit, you're responsible for instructing students in theory and hands-on curriculum in a classroom setting within the subject of skilled trades. You determine the best methods to deliver needed training and course instruction as well as prepare materials, locations, and supplies accordingly. Using your exceptional communication skills, you explain and demonstrate tasks to be performed and emphasize all safety aspects of the jobs and tasks. You also review any applicable job safety analyses with each student.
Additionally, you schedule, organize, and provide supplemental training when necessary as well as ensure tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety. You guide, assign, schedule, and supervise each student's work, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with the assigned curriculum. In a timely and constructive manner, you provide student evaluations based on performance and goals.
You ensure each student follows all established rules and meets expectations for appropriate conduct within the school. As required, you participate in and complete professional and individual career development sessions to stay up to date on best practices in your field. You consistently contribute to our school's success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team results. - High school diploma
- 3+ years of experience in the trade
- Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all manually operated and power-related tools and equipment
